“Yo – Adriannnnn” Adrian turns to see Hernando, the older bean who runs the two dollar shop, doubled over a shopping trolley. He rushes over, helping Hernando to his feet. “I saw them”, Hernando says, wiping the sweat from his brow. “They knocked me over into this trolley. There were two of them – a grande and a piccolo bean. They were too fast Adrian”.
“It’s Ok old bean”, Adrian says as he pats Hernando on the back, “I got this”.
In the furniture department of David Jones, two masked beans recline on the leather beanbags. One clutches the glittering gem and the other lights a cuban cigar. “We’re fine here for a while” the big bean says to the other “Those fat security guards will never think of looking for us here”.
“But Hugo, my love”, says the smaller of the two, pointing up at the store exit – “Your friend Adrian is shutting the centre down. We won’t be able to escape”.
Hugo laughs and coughs at the same time through a haze of smoke. “Adrian? That security bean doesn’t know a light from a dark roast. There are a million ways we can get ourselves and that jewel outta here”.
At the other end of the mall, the caffeine rushes through Adrian’s system and he’s ready to resume the chase. The details come flooding back into his head as he focuses on his mission. “I’m going to get you” he mutters under his breath “You’re not going to get away from me. This is MY shopping centre, you thieving little grinds”.
