Waking up on the tiles It almost feels as if the earth is shaking. There’s a loud ringing in his ears and his whole coffee bean body is heavier than ever. There’s a sharp pain in his crease and a little crema trickling down his chin. Adrian opens his eyes slightly to discover he’s on the floor of one of the cafes in Tuggerah Westfield . Accustomed to waking on the floor of the odd bar or two, it’s the first time he’s ever found himself disoriented on the tiles of a cafe.
As his fog starts to lift, he hears the unmistakable screeches of fellow beans in panic. Turning his head, he can see scores of beans running past the cafe and hears the alarms sounding.
He dusts off, gets up and drags himself to the entrance.
The scene is crazy! Beans are running around everywhere and shop keepers are shutting their doors as two of his fellow security officers dash past.
“What’s going on Bob?” he shouts out. The security guard bean turns without breaking his stride. “Boss – you’re OK! We’ve spotted them outside David Jones, but it looks like they’re going to escape before we lock down the centre”. Bob keeps running and it’s then that Adrian remembers exactly what’s going on.
He shines up his badge, grabs a cookie from the counter and emerges into the chaos.
